EMPOWERING VET STUDENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL CAREER ADVANCEMENT IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
Our visionary project is dedicated to the growth and advancement of VET students and graduates (Vocational Education and Training) within the dynamic labour market of the European Union. We are committed to equipping participants with the practical skills and essential knowledge they need to stand out in today’s competitive job market—especially in job searching and applying—thereby fostering greater labour mobility and professional success across the EU.
Participants
- Graphic Design and Video Production / Photography students from a VET school in Italy
- Administration and Finance students from our school
Description of the key objectives
- Building a strong professional identity: Participants will embark on a journey to confidently present their educational institution and chosen profession, laying the foundations for their future careers.
- Sharing valuable work experiences: Through peer learning and collaboration, students will exchange meaningful work experiences, gaining insights and inspiration from their classmates’ diverse paths.
- Creating engaging video CVs: Making the most of today’s digital media, participants will produce compelling video CVs that showcase their skills and experience and leave a lasting impression on potential employers.
- Mastering Europass CVs and cover letters: The project will provide comprehensive training on how to write effective Europass CVs and cover letters, ensuring participants can clearly communicate their qualifications and motivation to employers.
- Preparing for real job interviews: Participants will gain a unique advantage by taking on the roles of both interviewer and interviewee. This hands-on experience will help them understand interview dynamics from both sides and improve performance in real interviews.
- Conducting online job interviews: In an increasingly digital world, participants will be trained to confidently carry out online job interviews. This critical skill will help them navigate the modern labour market with ease and adaptability.
Project benefits
- Improved employability: The project will provide VET students and graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to stand out in the job market, making them highly competitive candidates.
- Enhanced labour mobility: By equipping participants with practical tools to succeed within the EU, the project aims to support labour mobility, enabling individuals to explore new opportunities and locations more easily.
- Confidence and readiness: Participants will complete the programme with greater confidence and a stronger sense of preparedness for their professional journey, with the ability to excel in interviews and job applications.

COEXISTENCE PROJECT: PEER SUPPORT GROUP
Educating for positive coexistence is a fundamental objective and one of the essential principles at every stage of our educational system, as stated in Decree 32/2019 of 9 April of the Governing Council, which establishes the regulatory framework for coexistence in schools in the Community of Madrid. This regulation is based on a set of principles, including the inclusion of all members of the educational community and respect for their rights and duties, participation and shared responsibility, and recognition of the important role students play in building a positive school climate, among others.
Therefore, all educational centres must guarantee attention to diversity, educational and social inclusion, education in and for conflict management, improvement of the school climate, education in values and peace, etc.
At IES Alonso de Avellaneda, we have identified cases of social isolation among some students. For this reason, the purpose of this project is to promote peer support to improve the school climate. We have the best human resource to carry out these tasks: the students themselves. We therefore propose creating a network of student helpers who, through observation and intervention, can reduce (as far as possible) cases of isolation and help prevent potential bullying situations.
Objectives
- Encourage the active participation of classmates in the inclusion process of students with social needs, and introduce peer-support techniques.
- Promote the inclusion of students with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion; students who are socially isolated due to emotional difficulties (shyness, depression, etc.), behavioural issues (aggressiveness, etc.), disability, or who are victims of bullying; and students with autism spectrum disorders.
- Improve coexistence at the school, prevent conflicts, and reduce cases of mistreatment, abuse, and bullying.
- Create communication channels between teaching staff and students.
- Develop initiatives to improve coexistence within the school.

APS – LEARN TO MANAGE YOUR FINANCES
The project pursues a dual objective:
On the one hand, it aims to improve the financial literacy of the general public so that, with better knowledge and the most complete information possible, people can make the best decisions to manage their finances—both personal and professional.
On the other hand, it seeks to enable students from Business Administration programmes (Higher VET Programme in Administration, Higher VET Programme in Administration (Dual) and Finance, and the Intermediate VET Programme in Administrative Management) to expand, put into practice, and explain the financial content covered during the course, helping them consolidate what they have learned.
This will increase student motivation in two ways. First, by linking classroom content to everyday life. Second, by transferring this knowledge to the school’s social environment through tutoring sessions for the community, prepared and delivered by students using the content previously covered in class.
As an EU Ambassador School, the project also focuses on the implementation of one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Decent Work and Economic Growth, which includes the target to “strengthen the capacity of domestic financial institutions to encourage and expand access to banking, financial and insurance services for all” (Indicators of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, n.d.).

SPANISH–FRENCH TWINNING SCHOOL PROJECT
The project consists of twinning two VET centres specialised in International Trade.
The aim of the project is to develop an International Marketing module project throughout the academic year together with French students from Lycée Philippine Duchesne.
To achieve this, two VET centres—one in France and one in Spain—take part in the project by organising an event that promotes exchange and collaboration.

EXCHANGE OF ACTIVITIES WITH A PARTNER SCHOOL IN ITALY
This activity consists of an interdepartmental project involving the programmes in Electricity, IT, and Community Services.
The project focuses on developing a prototype of a smart greenhouse connected to the Internet of Things (IoT).
The project is planned to be carried out over a period of two academic years.
In the first year, an urban garden will be created at IES Alonso de Avellaneda, while a greenhouse prototype will be built in parallel. At the end of the first academic year, the possibility of building a larger-scale smart greenhouse during the following year will be assessed.
The final objective is to “carry out various guided activities in which students from both countries participate actively.” These activities encourage the development of oral and written skills, research abilities, and creativity.

GREEN CLASSROOM PROJECT: ORGANIC GARDEN AT MY VET SCHOOL
An organic garden may seem like something very old-fashioned—and that would be true—or something that is very trendy—and that would also be true. However, the purpose of this initiative goes much further. Environmental awareness, along with observing and respecting the natural world, arises from a real environmental need and, far from being an obstacle to development, it offers multiple opportunities for learning and for personal and professional growth that should be embraced.
This garden project is conceived both as a traditional space for growing vegetables and as an educational resource. Through the educational use of the urban garden, other activities and initiatives are developed, linked to the personal and social competences of vocational training.
In addition, the idea of creating an organic garden at the school is directly related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

BUSINESS AND TRADE SIMULATION GAME
This project consists of connecting two or more educational centres from different countries where the qualification of Higher Technician in International Trade (or a similar qualification) is taught.
One of the centres will be Spanish and the others will preferably be from another European country.
A teacher will be appointed in each centre to act as the person responsible for and coordinator of the project.
During the first academic year, students—working in groups of three or four—will develop a business idea by creating a company with an online presence.
During the second academic year, students will get in touch with one of the companies created by students from the partner centre in another country. They will go through all the stages involved in this first international contact and continue the process until negotiation takes place and, finally, the commercial transaction is closed.
